The Map
Walk into the Deku Trees mouth to find yourself inside a very large tree. In the center, a cobweb covers the pit that leads to a pool of water. Navi tells you the only way to break it is to jump on it from a very high place. Three Deku Babas guard the web. Unlike those outside, these ones will actively snap at you when you're in range. You must hit them twice before they die and yield a Deku Stick or Deku Nut. Climb the ladder or the vines on the northeast wall to the spiral walkway above. Keep an eye out for these rough walls: often they lead to secret rooms, Treasure Chests, or exits! About halfway up, you'll come to a large treasure chest. These chests mark the presence of one of the dungeon's crucial treasures. Acquiring items such as the Map, Compass, and "special item" (which in this dungeon is the Fairy Slingshot) is usually integral to completing your tasks in each of the dungeons. The small chests, on the other hand, hold supplies, recovery hearts, and small keys.
The Slingshot
Climbing the vines on the wall above and around the chest in which you found the map sounds like a good idea, but the Skulltula Spiders will definitely prevent you from getting far. Because your sword is useless while you're climbing, you need another weapon–a projectile one–to proceed. Don't get discouraged, though. Farther up the walkway, you'll find another door. Walk through it only to find that your exit is barred behind you. A Deku Scrub lives in the middle of the room. These nasty creatures pop out of the ground and shoot Deku Nuts at their unsuspecting adversaries. Lock on to it using the "Z" Button and raise your shield with the "R" Button. This will deflect the Deku Nut back at the Deku Scrub. When it hits him, the Deku Scrub hops around the room. Either attack it or stand on its "home" and it will immediately surrender, leaving behind a recovery heart and some helpful advice. When you defeat the Deku Scrub, the doors unbar so you can proceed into the room beyond. Here you find a large chasm with a "floating" platform in the middle. As soon as you set foot on the platform, it will fall. Just be quick to jump across. In the chest on the other side, you'll find the Fairy Slingshot. You have the slingshot now, so now where you go? If you've played other Zelda games then you know that the item you find in a dungeon usually plays a big part in the dungeon too. The platform bridge is gone now and the vine-covered walls only lead to a recovery heart in a small chest or back up to the slingshot platform. Navi points out the ladder which is suspended in the cobwebs above the platform with the exit door. Lock on to it or aim your slingshot with the first-person view and hit it with a Deku Seed. The ladder falls so jump down into the chasm and climb up the ladder and exit through the same door through which you entered.
The Compass
Back at the chest where you found the map, shoot down the vine clinging Skulltula Spiders with your slingshot. When all three are dead, begin your ascent to the top of the Deku Tree. Climb straight up and move to either the right or the left till you drop off the wall. Three openings overlook the spiderweb on the first floor of the tree. Each of the openings is guarded by a large Skulltula Spider. They are not as easy as the ones that you killed on the wall. Their weak spot is their soft bellies. Wait till they turn over and show their stomachs and they hit them. Walk through the door to the west and you'll find yourself in a locked room. Stepping on the floor switch to your right will raise three platforms in the middle of the room. Jump across to the other side before the timer runs out and you'll get the compass from the chest. Another large Skulltula Spider guards a small niche in the room. After defeating it, open the small chest if you need a recovery heart and look behind the chest to see a curious looking spider on the wall. You cannot lock onto it so you must rely on your sword skills to kill it. Two good hits is enough to turn this Gold Skulltula into a Gold Token. Collect these tokens to earn certain items or equipment upgrades, such as a larger wallet. To get out of this room, turn to Navi, who points out an unlit torch by the door. Light one of your Deku Sticks on the torch that is burning and light the other with the stick before it burns out. When both are lit, the doors unbar allowing you to exit the room.
Breaking Through the Web
In any of the three openings on the top of the tree, kill the large Skulltula Spider. After killing it, you can see the web down below on the first floor. Walk to the end of the platform and jump off. The trick to breaking the web is to let go of the control stick once Link is falling so you can concentrate all his force on the webbing. If you fail to let go of the stick and continue holding it forward, Link will fail to break the web. Once through, Link falls into a pool of water in the basement area of the dungeon. The east platforms are easy to access, but the south one, which contains the entrance to the very bottom of the dungeon and the boss, isn't. The door on the southeast platform is covered in cobwebs. Step on the floor switch to light the torch on the northeast platform. With the torch lit, take out a Deku Stick and light it. Quickly jump in the shallow section then up onto the platform with the cobwebs covering the door. After burning the cobwebs away, go through the door. In this room, you must defeat another Deku Scrub. After defeating him, he will tell you how to defeat his brothers up ahead. To open the other door in this room, shoot the eye above it with your slingshot. The next room is filled with water and there is a large, spiked, thing in the middle of it with a platform moving back and forth on the water. Jump into the water and swim to your left. There, you'll discover a switch underwater. When you are directly above it, dive down by holding the "A" Button. This lowers the water and the platform. Get back up to dry land and jump on the moving platform which is also lowered. Jump off before it heads back. Defeat the large Skulltula Spider there. When he is dead, grab hold of the large crescent block there and pull it to the other side of the grooves in the floor. Jump on top of it to reach the small niche in the wall where the door is. This room contains three Deku Babas and two unlit torches. Light a Deku Stick and light the torches to open the door. A large Skulltula Spider guards the next room as well as some more Deku Babas. Kill it and press "C-Up". On the ceiling you'll see three weird looking balls. Each of them hold a "Baby Gohma" If you walk around the edges of the room, you will not be attacked by them but if you walk through the middle and they'll drop down and attack. Just slash them twice with your sword. Watch out when their eye turns red....they'll perform a jump attack! Burn away the cobwebs on the northwest side to uncover a small opening which Link can crawl through. Come back here when you have the Boomerang and Bombs so you can get another Gold Skulltula in the room behind the other cobwebs.Crawl through the small hole and you'll find yourself back where you started. Well, not right back where you started cause you're up on the platform which you could not previously reach. Push the large crescent block into the water and jump across onto the platform. Light a Deku Stick on the torch there and quickly jump back to the high platform using the crescent block as a bridge. When you across, stand on the webbing and hit the web with the flaming stick. You'll fall down a large hole landing in water. Three recovery hearts lie in the water, leave them unless you really need them. The three brother stand here. Kill them by locking on to them in the proper order. The order is, 2-3-1, middle, right, left. After you hit the last one, either stand on his home or hit him with your sword. He'll give you a hint for Queen Gohma. Grab the recovery hearts if you need them and enter the door.
Parasitic Armored Arachnid:Queen Gohma
As soon as you enter Gohma's lair, press C-Up ans look at the ceiling. She will see you and drop down. Lock on and when her eye turns red, hit her with your Slingshot. Then hack her with your sword. If you don't want her to drop down some little Gohma larvae, stay locked on if you're at the right angle, hit her eye when it turns red and she'll fall from the roof. Repeat the process till she dies. Grab the Heart Container and walk into the blue light that appears.
